Like I said, depends on the munitions you are using, the target and the desired effect. Enemy troops in the open would use a HE airburst, since they would have no cover and you could maximize casualties. Enemies in a bunker complex would require HE/AT or other sorts of penetrating round in a ground effect to smash thru the bunker if you were attempting to kill them, while air bursts could be used if you were simply trying to keep them pinned down for a while.


Using the ground-contact or delayed (penetrating) burst would not be consistent with the “precision targeting” weapons and techniques that the Israelis are using.

… unless there are many hundreds of Hamas “soldiers” hunkered down in a bunch, not hiding behind skirts (which would be out of character for Hamas).
