Fuck Apple. They charged me 483 dollars to fix the hinge on my wife’s Macbook Air a week ago, but returned it ‘good as new’ (i.e. new hard drive as well, so the Microsoft office I got for her from my last company went with the old drive). Two nights ago, it started ‘shutting down’…you could click ‘cancel’ and keep working, but five minutes later it tried again…eventually, we went to bed and did shut it down. Damn thing wouldn’t power up in the morning. Yesterday afternoon, it powered up! Yay! Only the mouse is in ‘right-click’ mode and the keyboard doesn’t work. I’m about to put a dent in their profit margin…I hope it doesn’t “void their warranty”…fuckers.

My 6-year-old Dell Inspiron 9100 is still going, having been through $500-ish of replacement parts (not bad given that my whole family chucked in near $2000 to get it back in ‘04.)

I intend to replace it with either a desktop-for-home/netbook-for-travel or a Macbook.

Preferably the latter.
