I think I too was once guilty of believing the ticking time bomb hypothetical but as blueraven just gets at, it’s emotional thinking not thinking based in law, ethics, and reason. It’s also very easy if you believe terrorists to be “subhuman” to accept torture. What made me come around ultimately was concluding that we had and rightfully so prosecuted Axis war criminals for torture and our own guys in the past.
