Makes sense, thanks. He never really told us specifics about his wartime service. What I remember him saying is he had arrived not long after Seoul was retaken. That photo is dated May ‘51 and was taken at Fort Smith in Arkansas.

The 5th Armored Division was station at Camp Chaffee in 1951 which is just outside Fort Smith, which makes sense.
