For all the Democrats dumping on Heath Mello (D) running for Omaha mayor for his personal position against abortion, Mayor Jean Stothert (R) has invited Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisc.) to rally for her.

As Senator Tim Kaine noted, Mr. Mello said he would not use his personal position on abortion in legislation (which he couldn’t do as Mayor of Omaha anyway).

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will appear in Omaha next week to support Mayor Jean Stothert.

Walker is expected to appear Monday at a number of events, including a rally, said Dave Boomer, communications director of the Stothert campaign. The time and place have yet to be determined; Boomer said the campaign was working on those details Tuesday.

“We’re delighted that he’ll be coming to support Mayor Stothert,” Boomer said.

Walker’s visit is scheduled within days of 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ planned appearance Thursday in Omaha in support of Heath Mello, Stothert’s opponent in the May 9 city election.
