I believe this is a matter of semantics.

Radical Islam- and there is plenty of it in Europe- is the problem and that must be distinguished from the mainstream community..

Millions of silent majority Muslims who live in Europe are not the problem, never have been and never will be.

It is the loud mouth radicals and dysfunctional lunatics who have taken center stage. Why? Beause the rest of the Muslim community are too busy working, raising kids, and putting up with teenagers going through the psycho years to get involved with these- as you rightly note, dangerous lunatics who have killed many.

This is a case of a minority who have way over sized influence, stupid teens, dysfunctional young adults and wannabe Islamic super heroes- as in cartoons.

Then there is the issue of these dysfunctional lunatics influencing a peaceable community, but that is a whole other- and real story.
