Eh, see, I view it from the opposite direction. He put her in a place where she HAS to agree with him, because if she doesn’t, he will light her up like a Christmas tree and she’ll look like a fool in front of the whole world. He gets to keep his eye on her and make sure she’s not scheming to dethrone him, whilst simultaneously dead-ending her career and also getting the added bonus of making her his puppet — OR ELSE.

*shrugs* Two sides of the same coin, probably. I think we can both agree that whatever his motive, clearly, it’s working, or she would’ve mysteriously resigned long ago.
