re: #11 Rightwingconspirator
As we move to clean energy, and cars that don’t require constant infusions of gas, oil, and tune-ups, replacement of thousands of superfluous moving parts… I do not recall these guys giving a shit about blue collar workers as corporations offshored jobs. Textiles. Ceramics. Steel. Jewelry.
So now we got Joe and this is suddenly a concern? Hmmm. Timing is everything.
It’s doable. For this Wyoming town, and great swathes of West Virginia.
Environmental repair will be lots of jobs for a few years — bulldozing dirt to fill in the holes and tunnels, replanting. Once that’s done, they’re well-situated to be a hunting and fishing tourist destination.
ETA: Buffalo ranching. Dude ranches for city people to enjoy the stunning scenery. And Wyoming is barely an hour flight from SF — fill it with Silicon Valley techies working remotely in a place where their kids can have horses.
