The prison rape thing is mainly a US phenomenon, and one we should be rather more ashamed of than we are. It’s something we use for comedy, thinking of how whatever bad guy we want to see in jail is going to get ‘bubba for a dance partner’, etc.

However, the truth is that most of the men raped in prison are young, not the hardened cons.
