Teddy claimed that after he tried to save Mary Jo , that he swam from the Island to the Mainland.
An Olympic swimmer barely made it, so it is highly unlikely that Teddy in a drunken state could have done it. If someone came to get him, who was it & why wasn’t the accident reported immediately?

And he had two friends/ aides with him who watched him jump off the dock into the channel. Sure.
