I’ve had this discussion before in regards to George Wallace and segregation, I firmly believe anyone who uses homophobic rhetoric or is at least indifferent to it in his rise to power is no different from the person who is a true believer like Pence. And Trump while maybe not as hostile to gays as Pence is also transphobic.

There’s not a whole lot of difference between someone shouting they are transphobic on the radio and someone writing an executive order to try to ban transgender military personnel. Trump writing such orders is a choice. He chose to do it.

Whether he chose to do it to pander to bigots in his base or because he is bigoted that way himself is pretty much a distinction without a difference.
