Hell, I’ve already seen it happen in real time for the past six months. Before Iowa, a “serious” conservative asserted to me that a Walker or Bush would be the nominee because the voters would want somebody with “executive experience.”

Then both got knocked off, so he became a Rubio fan because “voters want somebody who’s young and charismatic.”

Then Marco got knocked off, so it became “Well, I think Cruz will be the nominee because he’s got experience.”

And yet, in recent days, he’s suddenly found himself talking up the “outsider” bit, the idea that this is an election that’s “anti-establishment,” and thinks Trump will win because he “tells it like it is.”
