I’ll accept “lying” is probably the wrong term since (A.) I can’t prove it and (B.) I think it’s entirely possible she’s going on what she was told.

Personally I think she embellished her background a bit. I said a week ago that the number of people who claim to be Indian is equivalent to the number of people who claim to have attended woodstock or former military folks who claim to be special forces. I don’t think it’s a big deal.

She would have been hired by both UoP and Harvard without the Indian background. She had a good track record and she hasn’t done anything since then to show she wasn’t 100% qualified and the same can be said of her as a potential senator. OTOH, I don’t think we can say it played no role in her hiring since the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard both played up her Indian heritage. They were awfully quick to take advantage of her “minority” status.
