Good. I’ve always held that the real position of the democrats (since the 1840s) is the acquisition and maintenance of power at all costs. Really, Wallace started off fairly moderate on race for a man of his time. He became a staunch segregationist after he lost his first bid for governor and then did a complete 180 once he saw the power of blacks to vote. Power was the only thing Wallace (and democrats in general) cared about.

Ah memories…A friend of mine and I, while still in high school, went to one of his presidential run political rallies in a mid size midwest city. Got in about six hearty boos before being frogmarched out of the auditorium. Probably a good thing, there were a few crackers there that weren’t takin’ a cotton to us.
