I’d also like to mention that liberals were the ones who championed the GI Bill. The conservatives of the day were either opposed to the legislation or had to be coaxed into supporting it. Honestly, I think that’s a strike on conservatism’s credibility. The GI Bill allowed millions of American veterans access to better educations that they otherwise would not have had. It pushed our 1950’s boom. Big government isn’t the problem. A government that invests and believes in its people is not only good governance, it’s smart governance.

And by coaxing you mean “setting it up so that Southern states could keep black veterans from receiving the benefits.”
