Mona doesn’t seem to understand imagery. You need to get the message across clearly and quickly.

If the woman in the image didn’t wear hijab, how would anyone know the point was about a Muslim woman, a woman of color/different creed.

Mona is stuck in her own head.

Exactly, it’s all about her. For whatever reason she felt she had to wear hijab in Egypt or Saudi Arabia1 and she resented that. So now she’s in America and free to do as she pleases, but doesn’t support an image of an American woman who is wearing hijab of her own free will and faces discrimination because of it because… why??

That’s just fucking stupid & selfish. America isn’t the Middle East. It reminds me of the assholes who want to ban hijab, burkinis, etc. because “Oppression!”

Riiight, it’s ever so much LESS oppressive if a Western government dictates how a Muslim woman can/cannot dress than it is if a Middle Eastern one does. WTFF?

1. Or wherever—Egypt has no hijab laws that I’m aware of, though there very well may be social/cultural pressure to wear it. In any event she only lived in Egypt until she was seven, after which her family moved to the UK and then to Saudi Arabia (when she was 15). Whatever her gripe, the US isn’t Egypt or Saudi so I wish she’d just get over herself. (Source: en.wikipedia.org).
