You’d either need a constitutional amendment, or for Congress (or maybe a state legislature) to pass a law that leads to a case where the Supreme Court holds that hate speech is unprotected speech akin to fighting words.

Neither scenario is highly likely.

Yeah this would be hard to do. Honestly, the best thing we can do is to call out bigotry when we see it loudly. It sucks but it’s the situation we’re in.
