re: #279 HoosierHoops

Very true… I kind of get it..Thought experiment..
Let say I’m light at the first moment in time..The Big freaking big bang…
Light’s speed is zero.. So now everything expands… As the universe expanded did light slowly speed up with the expansion? or at just at a certain point was it able to escape mass as a c constant?
That math interests me…I’d like to learn more…
But if light escaped at the speed of c that means we will never be able to see the expansion period with telescopes..There was no light to seen..But if there was a variable speed of light in the beginning to obtain c..( Like a race car speeding up from the pits to a final speed) Then there is hope to see some light during the expansion period looking back in the future…
What do you think Lud?

I have no idea what happened during inflation. No one really does.

My point about energy bands is that if c is different, then alpha, the fine structure constant (and for that matter the permitivity and permeability of free space) is different and then all energy bands in spectra would be differently spaced. However, the hydrogen lines from ages past, look the same as they do today.

There is no way around this.
