I’m not one who believes the president is the smartest man on the planet but he’s not a moron. He knows this level of spending is unsustainable. He’s going to pass the leadership role over to the house so they can take the grief from the press (“they want grandma to starve”) in the hope that will win him re-election. It might, but it’s going to cost him the senate.

These numbers are too easy to understand. We’re spending 2x as much money as we were just a short few years ago. Any claims of “draconian cuts” isn’t going to fly.

you want some real spending decreases? Universal health care.
