On canceling the Lavi fighter under US pressure, the pressure was that the US would restrict weapons sales and aid if they continued, and supply more weapons if they canceled it.
Denying access to the F-35 computer system removes all that leverage.

Yeah, but the Lavi was also cancelled because the costs were skyrocketting.
