GG & Co are overtly trying to cripple an intelligence system designed to stop violent terrorism. They are aiding the bad guys. Would you want to go to a court in Lower Manhattan or Boston over the subtlty?

No, I wouldn’t want to go to court over this distinction. However, it remains worth making. Terrorists are the bad guys that you shoot or drone on sight and congratulate yourself for a job well done.

I had my fill of making all of the bad guys into ‘terrorists’ in the Bush years, and have seen no reason to change my mind since then.
