We could tailor some scenarios too.
Suppose you have 10 innocent people divided into 2 groups, 6 persons and 4 persons. Suppose you know that both groups could die but you could save one by killing the other. The “cold hard logic” would indicate that by killing the 4 people and thus saving the 6 you have prevented a “greater evil”. Would that now mean you should go scot-free and face no charges whatsoever?
Ridiculous, but so is the “ticking bomb”.
