That’s what it sounds like to me. You can’t abolish Sharia as it’s not just a set of laws, it’s a code of conduct that covers every aspect of life. It would be equivalent to abolishing Halacha, which would essentially abolish the practice of Judaism.

Who knows? Maybe the Greeks had been allowing Sharia courts to operate and make rulings that were incompatible with existing Greek law or something. Seems weird if that was the case, but it doesn’t make sense otherwise. *shrug*
