Can this please be the moment of no return for not just Trump but the conservative movement as a whole? They’ve always been assholes but I’d really hope that smearing a grieving father as a member of the Muslim Brotherhood whose son died in combat would be a final straw for many people. Worse than Shoebat honestly are cowards like Ryan and McConnell who say they condemn Trump’s remarks but keep on supporting him.

The thing is, there will always be conservatives, and there will also always be idiots who think tactics like these are acceptable. So even though it might disappear as a politically viable position, there will still be people who believe in it.
