It is really interesting to see the difference with the Dem’s troubles in the past. The Democrats had trouble with weak, boring and unlikable candidates. They still allowed idiots loons like Al Sharpton and Dennis Kucinich around. They fumbled and floundered but never wasted so much time and effort on an entire crop of unelectable extremists and idiots. The GOP is just completely rudderless.

Even 2008 - the candidates were largely sensible moderates. Obama, Clinton, Biden, Richardson.
Obama & Clinton had the party split, but the base wasn’t getting much blue meat - no single payer & no punitive tax hikes on the rich.
