Beck is Partially Right - “WE” were moving on the “Right Track” until the invention of the Cotton ‘Gin, the “Cotton Economy” etc.
What Beck leaves out is that Military Necessity - for both His Majesty, George III’s Troops and that of the Continentals required the enlistment of African Origin Soldiers. Both sides treated those soldiers with honor after the war for the most part, so long as they were active soldiers.
When “PUSH came to SHOVE” in the American “Unpleasantness” of 1861-65, even the CSA recruited Blacks to “The Cause.” - some of whom fought heroically at Richmond for a regime that wanted them enslaved forever.
No matter what, the “Buffalo Soldier” fought honorably and well for all that would give them the chance and a hope for a better future. That - IS the History - AND - It is TRUE. -S-
