And it bothers me that CNN dumbs it down to centrists versus progressives. I’m just as progressive as any of them. I just didn’t think Perez was Satan incarnate since he supported Clinton in the primaries.
And Mr. Perez has solid credentials as a champion of workers both in his time as Labor Secretary, and long before.
Mr. Perez becomes the first Hispanic-American to become a major party chair. Rep. Ellison would have been the first Muslim-American had he won the vote.
The primaries centred around the first (serious) woman challenger and the first (serious) Jewish challenger to be the nominee of a major party.
Khzir Khan was the breakout speaker at the Democratic Convention, the first time a Muslim has been elevated to such a position by a major party.
There were more transgender delegates to the Democratic Convention than African-American delegates to the Republican Convention. Sarah McBride was the first transgender person to speak at a major party convention.
The Democratic Party is one of inclusion, the Republican Party not so much.
