Abyss is underappreciated, particularly since that’s where he and ILM cut their chops on doing the CGI stuff that made the T-1000 so menacing (though that had as much to do with the fact that Robert Patrick was able to run without showing any effort or emotion). T-2 is an example of where the sequel is arguably better than the original.

I couldn’t help but laugh during Titanic because it was so overwrought and while I get the technical mastery of the craft of filming and the practical stunts and technical aspects, the story itself was mediocre.

The same can be said of Avatar, which is going to get 3 sequels, even though the story was beyond idiotic.

Oh, but $1 billion plus means 3 more movies that will likely be just as bad.

Now that you mention it, I did see Abyss.

But while enjoying the technical aspects of the movie, I couldn’t get involved, until the white rat breathing oxygenated fluorocarbon scene.
