I’ve had Conservatives tell me that 1) taxes, or wage increases, are never paid by business, but rather are simply passed through to consumers to pay, and 2) Consumers control prices.

I pointed out that both things cannot be true at the same time. If 2 is true, then there is a limit to how much cost can be passed on to consumers, and the difference comes out of the profits.

I was told I was “economically illiterate”, but nobody offered an actual counterargument.
