I want to make this clear -

Previous British squeamishness about use of the polices heavy handed tactics comes from

The Miners Strikes
The Poll Tax Riots
Climate Change Demonstrations
Student Fees Demonstrations.

All public disturbances that were about something intangible - the right to work and associate, unfair taxation, saving the planet or social mobility.

This thing is not like the others - there is no “there” there. Looting’s and areas are being targeted over social media on the richness of consumer goods pickings.

This is about abject and wanton criminality, no more, no less.

Those still on the streets need to learn there are consequences.

Civil disobedience in pursuit of a cause is respected here, grudgingly - mass lootings in pursuit of 42” televisions are not.

The public are tired of it and want to see all available force brought to bear to end this.
