What’s sad about that is that the GOP establishment could pull out the long knives and spill all the gory details about Newt’s time as Speaker and the morans in the base would just love Newt that much more. They’d chalk all the long knives up to bitterness that a Real Conservative is beating a RINO.

Well, If Romney lost to Obama, the base will just think they are not conservative enough and go even further into outer space. But if Gingrich lost to Obama they may start thinking that maybe their the ones with the problems. Maybe.
