I don’t doubt any of that. And I’m certainly not looking for zero. Of course it’s not going to be zero. What is it down to since the recession eased? NYT (Pew study) says coming back up again. But that’s not even important.

Calls for more border security won’t go away or lose all legitimacy until the violence in Mexico comes down and the cartels end open warfare. We both know the Fox news guys will not ever let it go even if that happened.

So now it’s not just border security, it’s security within Mexico. The goalposts are all over the place. The immigrants are here. Let’s deal with what’s here and stop pretending there are good reasons not to.
