I’ve always wondered what compulsory voting would do. I have no desire to see it actually put in place, but it might be interesting to see what would happen if everyone of legal age was required to vote. How would that change our political climate?

The key is, as with everything, in the penalty. Where are the lines between trivial/non-trivial/intolerable? Does a $20 fine suffice? Loss of driving privileges until the next election? Etc. As with an anti-filibuster amendment, it’s probably far more entertaining in theory than the nightmare it would be in reality…
