How come we sometimes see an actor become a brilliant director (Ben Affleck, Ron Howard), but no actress has done it?

I don’t get the feeling that Meryl Streep isn’t smart enough.

Hasn’t Streisand directed?

And I think Streep has also, although I’m not as sure as Babs!
