Amen! I see the TV ads with the soft-speaking celebrity and the little limpid-eyed child asking for my “$.30 a day to fix little Jose or Maria up with clean water, shoes, and a school”. Then I think, okay, so Maria stays in school til she’s 12 or so, then starts producing her own little Jose’s and Rosas. I get angry with myself for thinking it, but what is the long-term benefit? “They” are going to demographically destroy “Us”, and then there will be no one to even try to find solutions.
Does simple human kindness require a “long term benefit”? The fact that you get angry with yourself, at thinking that way, may be your self trying to tell you something. Just my two cents.
