There is, but most state governments don’t want to even talk about it.
It’s tracking prescriptions at pharmacies by a government registry and the GOP goes all PRIVACY!!11!! insane when that’s brought up.
Track prescriptions by patient names and prescribing doctors.
We started that here in Kentucky and, I believe, in Ohio to shut down the bogus “pain management” clinics. Kentucky had one hell of a fight with Florida over this because we shut down so many pill mill clinics that the dealers were finding it cost-efficient to drive all the way to Florida and back (and I know one personal friend who was found dead in a rest area after over-dosing on what he was bringing back from Florida to sell right here in Kentucky).
However, the GOP PRIVACY!!11!! is just bullshit. Follow the money on who makes the most money on this and who are the donors to the politicians.
