re: #304 Pam and Bob Sitting in a Tree

Isn’t that the standard practice?

Yes, seems to be. In another story from this morning:
pittsburghlive.com

The animal remains quarantined while a veterinarian and a dog behaviorist evaluate it. Should authorities deem it a dangerous dog, the animal could be euthanized, according to state law.

It is possible for owners to obtain the release of a dog labeled as dangerous, but it isn’t easy and doesn’t occur often, said Jason Lichtenstein, a partner with Edgar Snyder & Associates Law Firm in Downtown, who specializes in dog-bite cases.

The owner would have to fulfill a number of requirements, including registering the animal as a dangerous dog, posting signs on the property alerting neighbors and securing at least a $50,000 insurance policy to cover damages in the event of an attack.

“It’s very burdensome,” Lichtenstein said. “Because of that, the dogs often are euthanized.”

I know I had to go to multiple companies in order to get home owners insurance because I have dobes. The first 2 companies stopped the process as soon as they found out. My insurance is through an Indiana farmers co-op and they made me add a special rider.
