OT, but here’s a question to ponder (if you’re a sci-fi fan):

A couple of years back, there was a fan film called Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar; it was a short flick, about 20 minutes long, with pretty decent production values (especially for a fan film). It takes place in the original Star Trek continuity, about 20 years before ST:TOS.

Instead of suing the makers of this fan film, why the hell didn’t Paramount/CBS see this for what it was? A proof of concept, and a pretty solid I’d say. They could’ve made a series, and probably one hell of a series at that, about the four-year Klingon/Federation war.

I’ve seen Star Trek Discovery and it’s……..well, it’s OK in a ‘meh’ sort of way, but to be honest, Prelude to Axanar would’ve worked better. Perhaps what Paramount/CBS should’ve done is given these folks 1) a real production budget, and 2) some degree of creative control, and let them have at it.

Oh…..and put it on broadcast, in prime time, not on “CBS All Access” or whatever they call it.
