This is not a small issue. Data is the lifeblood of politics, and firms use the larger data trends in order to target voters in their client districts. They also rent the mailing lists of different candidates so they can reach out to voters directly. The idea of a presidential campaign not collecting its own data, and downplaying its importance is huge. It’s going to affect marketing on the GOP side through the next election cycle.
