Christ. Even granted that the attitudes and atmosphere that helped create this monster have existed and persisted for ages here…it’s still depressing how swift the backslide of the US as a gov’t has been. We’re never coming back from this, are we?

We’ve survived worse but recovery’s not going to be easy or overnight.
