I would accept the labeling of GG and Snowden as terrorists if they were acting under the direction of AQ or any other terrorist group in their attempts to screw up US intel operations.

Calling someone a ‘terrorist’ just because their actions benefit terrorists is casting the net much too wide. For example, one could argue that most of the Bush administration were terrorists for going into Iraq as AQ wanted, which is absurd.

Snowden should face espionage charges. Since espionage can be a capital crime if the Feds want to prosecute it that way, there doen’t seem to be any reason to tack on an allegation of terrorism that gives defenders of Snowden an easier topic to talk about than his real acts.

if you use the word “terrorism”, there has to be some element of “terror” involved - that is, somebody has to be intimidated by the fear of getting blown to bits if they don’t go along with the terrorist. that’s why bombings in public places are acts of terrorism

blackmail is not terror
