Agreed, but the money simply isn’t present in Canada for this type of project. We’re talking multiple developments costing $10s of billions each. Foreign investment is the only thing making it remotely feasible.

Maybe true, but it could have been regulated better to protect Canadians (and been more profitable for Albertans). I recommend Tar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of a Continent by
Andrew Nikiforuk. He goes into the subject in great detail.
