The new Indian government is looking to overhaul the employment laws and that’s expected to cause quite a bit of upheaval too - many have been in place since independence. The new government thinks that revising the laws will encourage companies to grow, increase women’s participation, etc.

But there’s a huge number of people still living in crushing poverty and infrastructure is still a huge concern for much of India.

While many foreign companies have set up in places like Bangalore and Hydrabad, they also build their own power generators because of regular power outages.

Potable water is another major concern, as is sea level rise, which will affect neighboring Bangladesh and Pakistan even more (with Bangladesh mostly just a few feet above sea level, such that any significant storm surge can have devastating consequences even without the sea level rise due to global warming).

Speaking of potable water, the source for much of the region’s water is also under fire from global warming as the snowpack in the Himalayas isn’t what it has been, meaning that there’s less water to go around.
