re: #309 Wendell Zurkowitz (slave to the waffle light)

We tend to forget when we discuss any religion that there are

a) people who identify culturally or socially with a religion, but do not closely follow its tenets

b) people who follow it closely but would not think of imposing it on other through law or force

c) those who follow it closely and seek to impose it on others through legislation

and

d) those who would also use violence or force to impose their religion.

Especially when it comes to Islam in America and Europe, a lot of people make no distinction between the former and the latter two.

Agreed with all your comments Wendell. I think you are thinking about religion as it already exists. I guess I am looking to see why it exists.

I was just kicking around the very concept of religion and where it starts. Is it just a part of man’s thinking…the old “the grass is greener on the other side” that we seem to always need to have something to search for or believe in.

That is why I mentioned things like a sun god, one of man’s earliest creations. It just seems we can never be satisfied and/or accept just being humans on earth.

I just like to think and conceptualize. It keeps the ol’ head exercised!
