Tebow’s public piety, from what I’ve heard, seems a bit over the top. Onion gags aside, he’s hardly the first devout Christian to play football.

However, if he wants to pray on the field, nu, let him. What troubles me is that some of the sports commenters I overhear seem to be willing to entertain the idea that somehow his piety is giving him an edge in the game, and that disturbs me. It’s frivolous, and silly, and whether they realize it or not, it’s a bit of a slur on other players.
