On a different topic… I lament more than ever the dumbing down of “science” TV specials. Even the BBC’s latest masterpiece - the one on using IR satellites to map underground remnants of Egyptian structures - which has so much been in the news the past couple of days - even this 90 minute special suffers from this phenomenon.
I blame it on the History Channel and the Discovery Channel phenomenon in the US, which has spread throughout the television industry. That is, by simply labeling a TV show as something (history, science, etc.) the company can get by without actually putting in content.
That, and reality shows.
