By the time Rush made those comments in 2003 Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon, and Steve McNair had all been Pro Bowl QB’s. McNabb wasn’t a novelty as a black QB. Even in the 1999 draft Akili Smith and Daunte Culpepper were chosen in the first round along with McNabb. Smith was a flop and Culpepper below average. The media treated them both a tough as other first round QB’s who don’t measure up.
