Does that not depend on where the numbers come from & who they represent? With legislation the number and nature of support and opposition is supposed to be key, unless money or stark manipulation interferes.

You’ve got the numbers (60 companies! 115 Congress-critters!) and the appeal to authority (clearly the tech companies who are all different and generally don’t agree know best!) to say that this legislation and the need for it must be legit.

I mean, that’s what your comment said.

Of course, I don’t necessarily think that these two things mean that the legislation is well written. I made it clear I wasn’t commenting on the merits of the legislation itself because I haven’t reviewed it yet. I do think that there’s a lot of work to be done in this area to clarify the balance between privacy and national security concerns.

I also know there’s a shit-ton of dudebros in the tech industry.
