Sort of wondering why the Joker didn’t think of that in The Dark Knight, but I guess that was sort of the point. By making one boat blow up the other, he’d have the survivors stuck with the guilt of their actions.

You never know if the Joker was going to blow both of them up or not at the end even if one fulfilled his promise to blow the other up.

Remember folks, you can’t really trust the promise of an all around nutjob.
