My father in law is a remarkably healthy 80 year old guy.

Until he was seventy five, probably consumed about a thousand dollars in healthcare (I am serious).

After seventy five? Two months in hospitals, bypass surgeries, kidney stones, infections, and other maladies.

Probably a half a million since he turned 75.

Bunch of folks are turning 75.

My FIL was the original tough old bird. He took armor ashore at Oran, Siciily, and Anzio, led the breakout from Pusan. He was riding and rebuilding his Harley at 85. At 86, he found out the cough was lung cancer and put a bullet through his head. A serious man.
